The easiest way to get to St. Louis from Dakar is in a sept-place, which is a seven passenger station wagon. They leave from the main station in Dakar (also called Pompier). You wait at the station for the car to be full, which means the rest of the passengers are heading for St. Louis as well, so it's a direct trip. The going rate is about 4500 CFA.

Saint-Louis tourist attractions and sightseeing

See the fisherman bringing in their catch. Hundreds of trucks waiting the fish to be brought to them. Local people carry the fish in baskets on their neck. Very colorful nearly every day at the evening.

About 20 kilometers outside of town is a fabulous "campement" named Zebrabar. You can stay in your own little bungalow for as little as 6000 CFA (about $14) a night, or you can enjoy a bigger bungalow with your own bathroom for 18,000 (about $42). It's located in the Langue de Barberie, right along the water, so it's a beautiful spot to relax in and head out for a tour of the park. Delicious european meals are served family style, although they're not inexpensive (5000 cfa for a complete dinner).
