Rehovot


Rehovot is a smallish city about a half-hour train ride south-east of Tel Aviv in Israel. It has a rapidly developing industrial center.

Culture and History

It is home to the Weizmann Institute of Science, one of the world's premier research institutions.

The Weizmann Institute lies at the top of Herzl Street - Rehovot's main road. Herzl is filled with shops and restaurants (pizza, falafel, schwarma, Yemenite.) Right beside Herzl Street you can walk to Rehovot's mall (which during the summer hosts weekly food festivals and has a large cinema) and the local fruit and vegetable market.

Rehovot is a small town, with practically every place is reachable by foot. Although some places will require the use of cars. Most of the streets of paved.

Rehovot attractions and sightseeing

In Rehovot there is a spetacular, American Style, shopping mall where they have hundereds of stores, and it also has a movie theater that shows movies that just came out.

Rehovot city tours

You can visit the Clore Garden of Science and the house of Israel's Former Prime Minister Dr. Chaim Weizmann - both located in the grounds of the Weizmann Institute of Science. Also in the Summer when it is hot there is a huge pool with ice cream shops, and a big hill of grass surrounding the pool so you can rest, located in the Wiezmann Institute of Science, but to go there you have to sign up for a membership for how much days you want to be a member, which costs some money.

Rehovot Restaurants: cheap, moderate and expensive

In th north of the city, you will be able to find several restaurants, such as: "Black Burger", a fancy meat restaurant, "Arcaffe", an international bar-caffe foodchain, "Cezar", a french-style elegant restaurant, "New York Bagles", a decorated bar, "Papardella", italian restaurant, "Hamburg", another meat restaurant, pretty similar to Black Burger, "Dublin", an irish pub, "Caffe-Caffe", famous israeli bar-caffe foodchain, and of course, there's also a McDonalds branch there. There are also many fastfood branches in the Rehovot mall, such as McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Sbaro, Kentucky Fried Chicken etc.

Rehovot nightlife, bars, clubs & pubs

A number of establishments line Herzl Street, in the vicinity of the Weizmann Institute. Among them is "La Morse", which offers a wide variety of Belgian ales on tap, and is frequented by a mix of young locals and Weizmann Institute students and scientists. The music played is typically alternative rock, classic rock, and blues.

"Cafe Ma", across the street, is a slightly more high brow bistro-bar, which also has an extensive and high quality food menu.

In addition, several cafe's line the street, among them "Natanella", directly opposite the Weizmann Institute, which sports an eclectic interior design and a pleasant, calming atmosphere.
