- Price — the regional center, home to the College of Eastern Utah, and near Nine Mile Canyon
- Duchesne — a small town in the High Uintahs
- Green River — a middle-of-nowhere roadside stop town with hotels and restaurants for tired I-70 drivers
- Helper — a small town home to the Western Mining and Railroad Museum
- Huntington (Utah)
- Roosevelt — an oil town on the Ute Indian Reservation
- Vernal — the region's second largest town, located in the far northeast of the state, and near Dinosaur National Monument

- Scofield State Park — a forested park high in the Manti-LaSal Mountains
- The Uinta Mountains — peaks above 13,000 ft and the world's highest altitude long-distance hiking trail, completely above 11,000 ft, through the Ashley and Wasatch-Cache National Forests
- Uintah National Forest — a bit further off the beaten path for more wilderness backpacking for the adventurous, mountain biking trails, some unusual geological features, and backcountry skiing
