Culture and History

Morogoro is the administrative capital of Morogoro Region. It is located two and a half hours from Dar es Salaam on an excellent tarmac road. There are many old German buildings in the city, which dates back to the colonial period. The city is located at the base of the Ulughuru Mountains, which make it an ideal base for hikers and campers.

Busses leave continuously from Ubungo station in Dar es Salaam. The journey is about two and a half hours, with a cost of 4000/=.

Dragonaire's is near the CCT and offers excellent food and drink at reasonable prices. There is satellite TV, pool, and a magnificent view of the mountains.

Oasis offers Indian food, as well as Tanzanian, at reasonable prices, and always fresh.

New Green Restaurant is a family place offering great continental and Indian food.

Acropol is on the main street near the Post Office with TV and pool, and American menu as well as Italian.
