Malatya's history backs to Hittites. The city is very famous with its apricots. Every July there exists an Apricot Festival in the city. The ancient Malatya (20 km far away from the city center) is one of the most important historical places. On the other hand, Malatya is also very close to the Mount Nemrut.

Flights and airtickets to Malatya
Malatya Erhac Airport is 30 km away from the city center and can be reached by shuttle buses of the airlines and taxis. Flights leave from Istanbul and Ankara. Turkish Airlines THY [1], Pegasus Airlines [2] and Onur Air [3] have daily flights to Malatya.
By train
There are daily trains (Mavi train and Ekspres train) fromAnkara. More informations about trains can be obtained from Turkish State Railways [4].
By car
Malatya can easily be reached by car, via Kayseri-Malatya motorway.
Buses to Malatya
There are many domestic coach firms from İstanbul bus station. The coaches, reach Malatya via Ankara and the journey takes nearly 15 hours. Beydağı Turizm[5], Aksoğanoğlu Zafer Turizm [6],Kernek Turizm[7] have at least 5 daily coaches to Malatya within the specific times of the day.

In the center, especially in the main part, everything is easy accessible by foot.
Malatya tourist attractions and sightseeing
Especially during the spring and summer there are daily trips to Mount Nemrut from Malatya City center. The tour starts from tourism information center located at the City Hall(Vilayet).
