A fresh water lake covering an extinct volcano field, Lake Yojoa is the largest lake in Honduras and a popular destination for sport fisherman and Honduran tourists.

Landscape
There is a beautiful waterfall nearby. Pulapansak is worth the little extra effort to see. Hiking behind the falls which involves getting wet but recommended only with a guide (always one around to help).

Travel to Lake Yojoa - Visa Requirements
The lake is located off the highway between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. Bus and car are the only options for getting there.
From San Pedro Sula, to destinations on the NE side of the lake (including Peña Blanca) take the El Mochito bus. The bus leaves several times per day from Calle 5 and Avenida 1.

Cataratas Pulhapanzak A beautiful waterfall, popular with Hondurans and tourists alike. Great for spotting macaws.

- Sport fishing After years of over-fishing the black bass popultion in the lake has again returned to safe levels. Bring your own equipment or join a tour with one of the hotels.
- Honduyate Marina has sailboats and other water activities.

- D&D Microbrewery and Bed and Breakfast(Website looks good but the place is pretty dirty. The food is good but check it to make sure it's cooked thoroughly. Thee beer is tasty but very mild. The location is fairly isolated and it's hard to find if you're traveling by car. All in all, it could be a spectacular retreat but it's so dirty that it's kind of hard to sleep there.)
