Jamaica Plain is a part of the City of Boston. Diversity is the strength of “JP,” as it is lovingly referred to by residents. Every ethnicity, socio-economic stratum, and sexual orientation is well represented in this neighborhood sandwiched primarily between Roxbury and the town of Brookline. The rich diversity in JP has created a strong character of social awareness and tolerance among neighbors and residents.

Travel to Jamaica_Plain, visa requirements

Orange line to Forrest Hills or Green stops. Bus 39. And people are fighting over if Green line E trolley should be brought back to downtown Jamaica Plain - Centre Street.

Jamaica_Plain attractions and sightseeing

• Blessed Sacrament Church, 365 Centre Street. [1] A stunning Italian Renaissance Revival church.
• Arnold Arboretum, 125 The Arborway. [2] This is one of the most beautiful places in Boston. Over 300 acres of trees!

City tours

• The Samuel Adams Brewery, 30 Germania Street, Phone: +1 617-368-5080, [3]. One of the best visits in town. It is just $2 that goes to charity and then a quick tour of the brewery and then into the bar for complimentary drinks, you get to keep your souvenir glass. You can get excellent souvenirs from the shop attached. It's about 5 minutes from the Stony Brook T stop on the Orange line.

• Alchemist Restaurant and Lounge, 435 S. Huntington Ave., Phone: +1 617-477-5741, [5]. A new bar and restaurant with a dark, modern decor and entrees ranging from $12-20. Worth visiting for a unique beer brewed by Samuel Adams exclusively for the Alchemist.

• Sorellas, 388 Centre St., Phone: +1 617-524-2016. A very good popular brunch place 6AM to 11AM only.

• Cha Fahn, 763 Centre St., Phone: +1 617-983-3575, [8]. Food + Sake + Tea. Unique concept and decor. High-back chairs are one of a kind. Fusion food with sake and tea specialty.

• JP Licks, 659 Centre Street,617-524-6740, [9] Flagship location for local chain that serves homemade ice cream and coffee roasted in-house. Features several different blends of fair trade coffee. In 2006, JP Licks was named the Best Coffee Shop in Jamaica Plain by Boston Magazine. Free Wifi connections available.

• Sweet Finnish, 761 Centre Street, 617-522-5200, [10]. Finnish bakery serving old world pastries, coffee and espresso. Free wifi. Closed Mondays.
