Colon (Panama)

Colón is a city in the Colón region of Panama. The town is in poor condition, but it is worth driving around to look at the culture, people and architecture.

Travel to Colon (Panama) & Visa Requirements

I visited Colon December 20, 2008 and was not allowed by the police to walk around. My movements were very much restricted to being forced to drive in a taxi two blocks to go shopping? I was allowed to walk Central Blvd, but only during the day and because the police had squads located on each corner.(Matilda Duffy 12 26 2008)

Seafood soup $4,00, was a great treat with three or four different types of fish in a tasty tomatoe base. Have with rice and fried plaintans with salsa. If your not into seafood try the roasted chicken with rice or potatoes $1.65 (Matilda Duffy 12-26-2008)

If you drive in the free zone take your passport [always and everywhere] and be sure to have your rental car paperwork. You may see some people at the gate trying to scam you out of money, do not pay them. Just go into the office and get your pass.
