Córdoba is inland from Veracruz. It is within the mountains about a 90 minute drive northwest. Cordoba is the location of the signing of the Mexican Independence Treaty with Spain (September 15, 1821). The building where the treaty was signed still stands on the ciry square. There is a significant celebration in town every September 15. Cordoba is the business center for the State of Veracruz.
