Africa >> West Africa >> Benin >> Avrankou

Avrankou (originally Avlankou) is a city in Benin.

The origional is derived from Avlan (a famous plantain picker) and KOU (death in Gun language). Later, the French changed the name to its present as they found Avlankou difficult to pronounce.
